Welcome!

WW2 Bunkers, 30+ Lakes, Hunting, Hiking, More...

Looking for something unusual in the St. Louis Metro Area? Check out August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area in Saint Charles County. Click on the "Getting Around" link on that TRAVEL.COM page to see many WW2 era TNT bunkers. Otherwise, just click "What's Nearby" to see everything in the area.

This is an on-going project and so we will be adding more bunkers and other places of interest. You can also click on the map on each page to see where that item is located in the conservation area.

From the Missouri Department of Conservation:

The August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area was purchased by the Missouri Department of Conservation in 1947 from the federal government. Mrs. August A. Busch Sr. donated a portion ($70,000) of the cost toward the purchase of the area as a memorial to her late husband. In the early 1940s, the area was used by the Department of Army as a TNT munitions plant to support the World War II effort. There are still 100 of the old TNT storage bunkers that exist on the area.

There are over 30 small lakes of which many allow fishing. The area has all kinds of hunting. Check the MDC website for more info.

We will be updating this blog as we add more details.
