Large Deck and Good Food Selection at Uncle Joe's
Rating
3.0
Uncle Joe's is an okay place if you stick to the outdoor deck area in the back. They have a pretty large food menu that is reasonably priced and nice servers. The deck area is huge and features music and lighting when it gets dark. The domestic beers were pretty inexpensive, so it is a good place to drink on the cheap. The outdoor area sometimes had a sewer smell to it, which was really gross, but then it would go away. I would suggest moving seats if this happens, maybe you can escape it.
The inside part of the bar is kind of depressing. It was a little too dark for my taste, especially for late afternoon/early evening. I didn't dislike Uncle Joe's, but it doesn't have any thing to really make you want to go there. The large deck in the back is okay, but it overlooks public parking, so you can't really see much of the river. For some people, it might be worth a shot, but I wouldn't send anyone there on a recommendation. Uncle Joe's is just "meh".

Uncle Joe's Bar & Grill - Outside Deck Facing the Mississippi
(Updated: October 25, 2021)
Rating
3.0
On the evening of our visit, we were looking for an outdoor deck overlooking the Mississippi River at the St. Charles riverfront and ended up at Uncle Joe's Bar & Grill. The main reason we tried here was that there was public parking right behind the deck on the backside of this bar.
It was a pleasant evening and we enjoyed the pitchers (seemed a bit on the small size) of a cheaper brand of Anheuser-Busch beer (you guess). Our server was nice and price-wise we did great staying to the A-B special of the night. So, overall, we had an enjoyable evening.
However, the bar is run down (not so much on the outside deck, but indoors) which is why I really can't recommend it unless you do stay to the deck.
I might note that the deck is not handicap accessible nor is the men's restroom which is down a flight of stairs. The women's restroom is inside the main floor of the bar. Also, we kept smelling a bad odor from time to time. I'm not sure if that was from trash containers in the back or from a sewer, but when the breeze blew the wrong way it wasn't all too nice.
