Quintessential - Most Upscale Bar in St. Charles County
(Updated: October 25, 2021)

Quintessential is definitely the most upscale bar that I've come across in St. Charles County. But that doesn't mean it has to be expensive. Drink specials of the night can keep the price down. However, if you wish to spluge, Quintessential has a very extensive selection of items to drink including around 100 bottled beers (guestimate), about five, small-print pages of wines .

Per their website: "Q prides itself as being a mecca for a pulsating nightlife where club-goers can take delight in all we have to offer including: a year round rooftop terrace, wine room, four separate bars, and a smoke-free dance floor, bottle service menu and private rentals. Enjoy live entertainment on our stage, from acoustic performances and live Video DJ's, 7 days a week."

Our visit to Quintessential was during summer on a Wednesday evening for which they had specials.

We sat at the upstairs bar in order to enjoy the open but covered rooftop terrace which is very large. Being a Wednesday night, there were few patrons. We sat at their u-shaped bar which seated about 20 people. Our bartender, Amber, was excellent. She checked on our drinks often and always had a smile.

Quintessential's rooftop terrace is fully covered and is totally open on two sides. There were quite a few overhead fans blowing. There was a DJ playing music but no cover charge this early in the week. On its one wall was a large screen used by a projection TV. Around the terrace were about seven or eight large couch groupings, many tables, and a dance floor. There were four elevated flatscreen TVs serving the terrace area plus 3 smaller flatscreen TVs in the bar area. There also was what looked to be a small gas fireplace in one corner of the bar area.

With parking on Main Street being very limited, it is good to know that the upstairs is directly connected via a ramp to the public parking garage just behind Quintessential. If street parking is a problem, definitely check out the garage. One odd thing I noticed while seated at the upstairs bar is that one could see guys "taking care of business" in the male restroom when the restroom door opened. Perhaps some kind of screening in front of the guy's restroom would fix this strange design faux pas for an otherwise very nice setting.

The lower level of Quintessential has a long bar plus tables for dining. You can also order many sandwich platters. These prices look reasonable considering the quality of the venue. Hopefully, tastes, preparation, and meal service meet the same expectations.

If you want to enjoy Quintessential when its not crowded, try a Sunday through Wednesday night visit as we did and enjoy the drink special of the evening. I would suggest business casual dress although we were somewhat more casual during our visit. We'll definitely return.
