Elsah is a village in Jersey County, Illinois. As of the 2010 U.S. census, the village had a total population of 673. As of 2018, the population has grown to an estimated 704. Mike Pitchford is the village's current acting mayor.

It is the home of Principia College.

Elsah is a part of the Metro-East region and the St. Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area.

A favorite: Riverside village, quaint

For me, I always tend to drive through the small village of Elsah when passing along Illinois highway 100 in this area.

Quaint describes it perfectly. It has several bed and breakfasts and many homes built with stone. There is a small loop drive between the start of the village near the Mississippi River and the United Methodist Church further into the village. Give it a drive-thru if you're in the area!

Lovely, beautifully quaint

Whenever I make the drive on Illinois Highway 100 between Alton and Grafton, it is hard not to stop by for a short loop drive through the small town of Elsah. "Quaint" is the term that comes to mind. There is just something about this small Mississippi River town with its bed and breakfasts that pulls me off the highway for a short drive through. Lovely place.
