The Marina @ Pere Marquette State Park is not really a marina per se. It is more like a nice river access point with a boat launching ramp, small harbor, docks, and a pavilion. Considering the amount of land dedicated to this marina area, it is currently quite under-utilized -- at least during our Saturday afternoon visit in August.
I just didn't see a lot of people using it. Since the park/marina is located directly on Highway 100, it does look like a pretty safe area to stop and have a picnic under the pavilion. And the Pere Marquette State Park visitor center and the Pere Marquette Lodge & Conference Center are just across the highway.
