Best thing is the Marriott's revolving restaurant/bar

I really don't get the appeal of Times Square. It is almost that it is famous for being famous. The shops and restaurants there don't seem attractive to me. All the same, I can't imagine visiting NYC without visiting Time Square just so that you will know what it is when you see it on TV the next time. At Times Square, one can find some good prices on "I Love NYC" t-shirts and other souvenirs from the street vendors. So I guess its a decent place for souvenir shopping.
One nice thing that I can point out is that the New York Marriott Marquis at Times Square has a nice, revolving restaurant/bar there which is good to watch the sun go down. If you like such venues, check it out. I've been there several times for drinks which, although are NYC prices, are not too crazy considering the view.
