Undeveloped Park With Nice Views of the Mississippi River Bluffs
(Updated: September 06, 2012)

Hideaway Harbor Park is a 50 acre county park located directly on the Mississippi River and facing the bluffs on the Illinois side of the river. It is very undeveloped but has some nice views of the river.

There are two boat ramps at Hideaway Harbor Park. One is directly on the Mississippi River and the other is opposite that ramp but on the back, or south side, of the park. There is a huge rock surfaced parking lot, a small courtesy docking area next to the southside ramp, and primitive restrooms.

As mentioned, Hideaway Harbor Park is very undeveloped. It would be nice if there were some facilities on the Mississippi River side such as a pavilion that could withstand flooding and some seating to enjoy the river views. As of now, I'd describe Hideaway Harbor Park more as an in-out place for launching boats than a park.

On our mid-week visit with excellent weather, Hideaway Harbor Park was almost deserted. But one doesn't feel totally alone here as you must go by a few homes to enter the area which was created from a buyout of property from the 1993 flood. You have a better view of the river from the Our Lady of the Rivers Shrine just downstream a bit. But for boaters, Hideaway Harbor Park is a great launching point and you are right on the river. I would be interesting in hearing how crowded it is on boating season weekends.
