Waikiki, also known as Waikiki Beach, is a neighborhood of Honolulu on the south shore of the island of Oʻahu in the U.S. state of Hawaii.

Waikiki is most famous for Waikiki Beach, which is one of six beaches in the district, along with Queen's Beach, Kuhio Beach, Gray's Beach, Fort DeRussy Beach and Kahanamoku Beach. Waikiki Beach is almost entirely man-made.

Waikiki is home to public places including Kapiʻolani Park, Fort DeRussy, Kahanamoku Lagoon, Kūhiō Beach Park and Ala Wai Harbor. Waikiki was the first capital of the Kingdom of Hawaii from 1795 to 1796.

Waikiki Beach - World's Most Famous Beach?

Waikiki Beach is one of the best known beaches in the world with its magnificent views and sheltered waters. Some people consider it too developed with all of the hotels that line it. But many people forget that the reason the hotels are there is that the beach is so great. I love Waikiki Beach since my days as a student at the University of Hawaii (Manoa). Time has never dimmed my love for this famous beach.
