Slough Access at the Winfield Dam

The best way that we found to access Sandy Island Conservation Area is right at the Winfield Dam. There is no longer a restroom facility here but one can still watch the barges pass through the dam. There appears to be rock road that runs North-South along the slough here. One can also paddle up the slough and leave one's car here in what looks to be a rather safe area. I did see one personal watercraft operating on the slough.
