Angolo SoHo

Located in close proximity to Little Italy, Angolo SoHo features authentic and rustic Italian fare. There's a heavy focus on meat, but also a strong attention to fresh produce and house-made specialities, such as the charcuterie and pasta. For a starter, we especially enjoyed the grilled quail, melon and heirloom tomato salad. It was definitely an inventive dish, and finely in-tune with the seasonal veggies. Also, don't forget to try the heirloom tomato salad. For an entree, I chose the pork chop with caramelized fennel-- total hog heaven! The pork chop was cooked to perfection and was perfectly complimented by the subtle and sweet flavor of the fennel. To me, the combination was pleasantly evocative of the tangy-sweet elements found in Midwestern barbecue.

The sophisticated and intimate restaurant, will feature an informed selection of Italian wines and beers-- I'm not sure about their cocktail menu, but I am looking forward to finding out how the drinks stack up to the cuisine. I was really amazed at how varied and explorative their menu selection was while honoring traditional and earnest Italian cooking. I look forward to many wonderful meals here.
