Review Detail

There really isn't much here to see: just the one-floor remaining corner of part of the old prison building. However, next to the prison ruins is a small covered display area with related pictures and a written historical explanation. The Alton Confederate Prison Ruins are just a little up a hill in front of the large grain elevators located on the river front. The are probably only of interest to those interested in the Civil War history of Alton.
