Wacky Wednesday fan

I've got to say I'm a fan of Imo's Wacky Wednesday promotion where you buy one pizza and get a second pizza of the same price or less for free. This has been going on for years. Love it and this Imo's with a drive thru does it great.

For those interested in U.S. Grant and Civil War history

The Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site is a small site that contains the home of the Dent and Grant families prior to the Civil War when Grant was still a Democrat and owned slaves. I found it an interesting place to visit and it is located close by "Grant's Farm" which is the bigger...

Saint Louis home to Southwest Airlines

With the demise of TWA after its purchase by American Airlines, the traffic handled at STL Airport by American Airlines has seriously declined. But Southwest airlines, already operating here, came along and took up the slack. They had built their own Terminal 2 before the end of TWA and that terminal now handles more...

One of my favorite local farmland valleys

This is one of my favorite places to drive through although it is basically farmland. But that farmland is located in a beautiful valley with rolling hills and the roadway follows a small creek. My family especially loves to drive through this valley during the winter when you see water that has frozen as...

Green, but not a lot of shade

The Dardenne Greenway Trail is a pleasant paved route in the St. Peters area. The pathway is very flat and there are a few benches along the way to rest at. I walked the route towards mid-day so there was not a lot of shade. I would suggest doing it earlier or later...

Not bad, but much better parks in the area

Rotary Park has a nice pond for fishing and is famed for its annual Renaissance Festival, but there is not a whole lot more here.

Best viewed at twilight

Kraut Run Lake is really not anything special but it is the largest lake in the Busch Wildlife area. It is essentially a fishing lake and there are rental boats with oars which one rarely sees out on the lake. Most people just fish from the shore. Since the park is open until late...

A McDonald's with the lobby open daily

This McDonald's is not very large but it does have an indoor play area for kids which is currently closed. The lobby area was not very large and I'm not a fan of its dark wood interior with dividers. But the people working there appeared courteous, it appears that the lobby is open throughout the week, and there is...

Short trail but has variety

Stealey Way Trail is a fairly short (I believe about 2.5 miles) trail but it has a variety of views ranging from forest to prairie to a walk along Peruque Creek which feeds into Lake Saint Louis. This is not the inner, blacktop trail but instead is the outer natural path circling about 3/4s of the borders of the park....

No drink bar! I won't be back!

I guess this must be a trend: this is the second renovated McDonald's that I have come across in the past month without a drink bar. I don't like it! Perhaps I can stand in line to get a refill but I'm not going to wait for several other people to order to top...

Is this really considered a park?

I really didn't want to give this location a negative rating but I'd call this location "far from being a park" in my mind. It's nice that kids from the nearby Heritage Primary School were involved in its creation. But this "park" is little more than a drainage ditch with a tree trunk to sit on and a rock...

Small, historical, but not a lot here

This is a small memorial park on Pierce Avenue in Wentzville. There is not a lot here but it has a plaque explaining its connection back to skirmishes in the area during the Civil War. There is also a memorial of names from more recent battles. There are benches where one can relax.
