Author's Note: This is an old review and may not still apply. I've wanted to visit Donatelli's Bistro at Lake St. Louis for several months. I've heard several recommendations and finally got a chance to visit. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and will likely return. We had the Linguini Tutamare which included a Caesar Salad...
Boogaloo is a bar/restaurant located in Maplewood. We had a family dinner there. The food is a combination of Cuban, Caribbean, and Creole. What we found extraordinary is the presentation of the meals (considering this looks like a bar) and the taste. We were pleasantly surprised. Others in our party had already been to Boogaloo and that's why we came...
Broadway Oyster Bar is located on South Broadway, just south of Busch Stadium. In spite of its dilapidated looks, it is one of those places to which I like to take out-of-town visitors. It is so different from your typical St. Louis pub restaurant. First, it serves Cajun food such as alligator, shrimp, crayfish, mussels,...
We had a late evening dinner and there were few other customers at the time. Needless to say, we had very good service. Likewise, the food arrived promptly and we enjoyed our meal. Prices were $6.29 for a Hamburger Burger plate, $11.29 for Catfish Wanda, and $13.99 for Simple Salmon. Soft drinks and iced tea were $2.19.
Nobu's is one of the few Japanese restaurants in the St. Louis Metro area where the sushi chef is actually Japanese. The owner, Nobu, has been around the local Japanese restaurant scene for decades. He knows his craft well and creates excellent sushi. The quality of the fish used is among the best in St. Louis and the non-sushi Japanese...
I have a split opinion about Kitaro Bistro of Japan. First, they have the most expensive restaurant facility of any Japanese restaurant I have seen in the St. Louis area. Its an interesting building in itself with huge glass walls on two sides of the restaurant and a very contemporary interior. In this respect, Kitaro wins hands down over any...
Lucas Park Grille is located in the Washington Avenue loft district between 12th and 13th Street. It is a nice place for a semi-upscale dinner without getting too dressed up. Business casual will be fine but you won't feel out of place if you dress up a bit more. We didn't check out the bar which is street side, but...
I'm from out-of-state and one of my relatives in Waco recommended Buzzard Billy's, so we gave it a try. The restaurant is riverside on the Brazos River where you can enjoy outdoor seating in good weather. We ate indoors during our visit and enjoyed the casual, nautical decor. This family-style restaurant is definitely popular with...
There are two McDonald's in our area: the slow one and the fast one. This is the fast one located on the south side of Lake St. Louis in the Shoppes at Hawk Ridge (use the Highway N exit from I-64). I've been using the drive-through at this McDonald's for many years and am impressed...
Mi Ranchito is tucked away northwest of the U-City Loop on Kingsland Avenue so you might not know that it exists if you just frequent the shops along Delmar Blvd. But the restaurant is very well known among the locals -- especially the Washington University student crowd. I've eaten at Mi Ranchito several times over...
If you are looking for a great casual place to meet friends in Ladue, Lester's is a very good choice. It is a sports bar but about half the facility has regular restaurant seating in tables and booths. Televisions abound and the bar is rather large. I found the food prices quite reasonable and the...
While this bird doesn't imbibe, I still like to visit outdoor bars and enjoy being among visitors to this tourist area. Augusta Brewery has both a small indoor but a very extensive outdoor area to handle the summer crowds visiting Augusta for the wineries, crafts, bed & breakfasts, and cycling along the Katy Trail. Augusta...
